Course Introduction

Hello! Welcome to The Art of Luminosity painting course. This is an intimate (10 students max) 3- part painting series. I love flexibility, so, you can sign up for either the Thursday PM (A), or Sunday AM (B) session.  



Dates:

Session A (6:00- 8:30 pm)- April 18th, 25th, May 2nd

Session B (11:00-1:30 pm)- April 21st, 28th, May 5th 



If you miss a session you are welcome to make it up with the alternate weekly session!

About Me

I am Nora Bruhn, a self-taught artist living in San Francisco. I specialize in painting large-scale floral murals. My florals have been called, “The Most Beautiful Flowers in San Francisco.” I studied Biology at The University of Iowa which honed my eye for detail and taught me to deeply observe the world. I find endless inspiration from the natural world. The way light touches a flower, illuminating its delicate structures and textures. A cascade of colors abound. I labor over rendering every hue and detail, resulting in dramatic, realistic floral scenes. I am thrilled to share my techniques with you!  



There are many ways to go about painting and I do not know everything. However, I will share a synthesis of everything I have learned and what works best for me. I invite you to take the juicy bits that resonate with you and continue developing your own style.



Course Goals/Curriculum

This is an adult painting course for those interested in bolstering their ability to render the world around them and paint realism. This is not a painting course for those who have never held a paint brush. We will be painting flowers, however, the skills I will teach you can be applied to any subject matter.

  • Composition
  • Choosing the right materials 
  • Full coverage painting
  • Edges
  • Layering
  • Seeing Color
  • Mixing Color
  • Blending and fades
  • Contrast
  • Glazing



Price: $275 total

This course includes all the materials. You will walk away with your own 12 x 12 inch painting and hopefully some new knowledge, confidence and friends.
